∎ Concept of C-ITS (Cooperative-Intelligent Transport Systems)

C-ITS is a system that provides accident-related information such as traffic conditions, sudden stop, and fallen objects to the driver in real time refer to the following
  1. at Incident Situation Traffic Information Center gets information via infrastructure in real time
  2. Wave Roadside Unit provides Traffic information
  3. V2I : Broadcasting Real time traffic and emergency situation / Gathering Vehicle status and offering car information / Offering Precise location information
  4. V2V : Rapid deceleration / stop alarm Vehicle approach alarm / Rear-end collision warning
*ITS (Intelligent Transport Systems) ITS is an intelligent transportation system that implements environment-friendly transportation system such as energy saving. It improves convenience of traffic and its safety as well. Also, it maximizes the efficiency of transportation facilities and provides useful information to people by collecting, processing, and providing the traffic information by applying the communication technology to the components of transportation such as roads, vehicles, and cargos.

∎ Differences between ITS and C-ITS

ITS is a transport information-based collecting and providing system that manages transport in a state where vehicles and facilities are separated, while C-ITS provides real-time information on individual vehicles to prevent unexpected situations.

∎ Introduction Background

(National task) Adopting C-ITS, which is being promoted globally in order to reduce the dramatic number of traffic accidents is
also being promoted as the current national tasks.
The U.S, Europe, and Japan are promoting actively for C-ITS pilot project, as the final stage of commercialization by building its foundation such as frequency, standardization, and legalization. In Korea, we have established the ‘C-ITS master plan’ that is included C-ITS infrastructure implementation, OBU distribution, and etc. for the target of ‘zero traffic accident for 30 years'.
